Ek Automotive 3.83

Ek automotive opened the doors for the first time on October 1, 1991. Our first customer was a man named Martin Rumelshek. His Oldsmobile had a transmission leak. Martin was kind enough to sign a dollar bill that we still have framed and hanging in the shop. Back then Ek auto was a one man operation. But business took off and we brought on our first employee one month after opening.

We weren’t always located where we are now. Our first address was 6765 N. Olmstead Chicago, next door to our current location. It’s was a small shop with a low ceiling. We had one lift, but couldn’t lift the cars all the way up because of the ceiling. Fortunately business grew quickly and we moved to our current location only 14 months after we opened. Again business grew and we had to do some renovation to the building to add another bay. Although business keeps growing we have no intention of moving.

When we developed a business model we based it on bits and pieces of ideas from other successful companies and incorporated them into Ek Auto. Small things that add up, like the fresh cookies and pastries baked every morning (idea from Cafe Du Monde) for all the visitors, the guitar hanging (the idea came from Uncommon Ground). But it’s more how we treat our customer that sets us apart. We go to great lengths to make your visit here as comfortable and covenient as possible. “Friendly” is the word used most by people when describing our staff. And our advanced education programs ensure that all our employees are up to date in this constantly changing industry.
