Dover PRIDE 2.81

The PRIDE program is a partnership between the Kansas Department of Commerce, K-State Research and Extension and Kansas PRIDE Inc. All work together to make a difference in KS communities.

Kansas PRIDE supports community development efforts by providing a structure to mobilize local organizations and governments as they address quality of life issues.

~ facilitation for the sharing of ideas

So, in May 2013 we received backing from the Shawnee County Commission and were able to proceed as a PRIDE community.

In June 2013, with the help of PRIDE reps, we created a Community Survey that would help guide our PRIDE in the direction that the community felt was most important project to them. We had around 200 people fill out our survey (online or in person at our Dover Heritage Day booth). The results were very helpful and has steered us to begin focusing on updating Playground equipment for people of all ages.

We researched different playground companies and narrowed it down to 2 companies. So, in November of 2013, we invited the community out to listen to the two companies present to us.

From that point, we voted on one company to work with. . . and then the fun began...
