*FORMERLY KNOWN AS CRYSTAL'S CANDLES*

Why choose Bee Kind Candle Co. over any brand out there? I love the saying knowledge is power. Knowing what you are purchasing is very important. With all these major corporate companies out there stuffing toxic chemicals into every single product that we purchase is a very terrifying thought. Here is a little insight into what the difference is between Bee Kind Candle Co. and a regular store bought candle:
First off regular scented candles are made with paraffin wax. Paraffin wax is a byproduct of crude oil waste, which creates highly toxic benzene and toluene when burned (both are known carcinogens). In fact, the toxins released from paraffin candles are the same as those found in diesel fuel fumes. Pretty awesome, right? There are no laws set in place for candle companies to expose the ingredients they use to produce their candles. Great!
Another amazing fact is that by law candle companies are not allowed to use any kind of metals in the wicks. 30% of candle companies are still using these toxic metal wicks in producing candles. What's the big deal?
“A candle with a lead-core wick releases five times the amount of lead considered hazardous for children and exceeds EPA pollution standards for outdoor air, says the CPSC, which is why they banned lead wicks in 2003. Exposure to high amounts of lead has been linked to hormone disruption, behavioral problems, learning disabilities, and numerous health problems.”-Green America
Some more great chemicals found in paraffin wax candles are: Acetone, Trichlorofluoromethane, Carbon Disulfide, 2-Butanone, Trichloroethane, Trichloroethene, Carbon Tetrachloride, Tetrachloroethene, Chlorobenzene, Ethylbenzene, Styrene, Xylene, Phenol, Cresol, Cyclopentene. Say all these 5 times fast! HA!
Most candles get soot. This happens when the candle is left burning longer than the suggested 2 hours at a time. Any longer than that stresses the glass container and can cause a break. “Petro-soot from paraffin candles gives off the same soot as the exhaust of a diesel engine, and is considered just as dangerous as second hand smoke, causing problems from headaches to lung cancer. Paraffin fumes have been found to cause tumors in the kidneys and liver of lab animals.” - Sandrine Love
When I first learned this about my beloved candles my jaw dropped. I was shocked! How could these companies get away with this? This isn't ethical! Yankee Candle is like the Monsanto of the candle industry! GROSS! So, I learned, I researched, and I experimented. I found myself producing soy candles with a blend of essential oils and aroma blends. All fragrances are tested non-toxic and adhere to the Research Institute of Fragrance Materials (RIFM). I use only the top of line products to produce a soy candle. NO DYE! NO LEAD WICKS! NO PARAFFIN WAX! NO TOXIC JUNK! I promise you. I have kept my prices very low. I wanted everyone to be able to enjoy a candle at an affordable price. I could charge $10 a candle and no questions asked. I decided against it. I wanted to do something for the greater good of mankind even if it meant I didn't make much doing it. Why choose Bee Kind Candle Co.? You tell me!
