The Caro Area District Library (formerly Indianfields Public Library) had its predecessor in a “ladies” library society, in the 1880s. The present library had its beginning in 1914 and an official building in 1915. For much of its history the library was housed in the Schall Elementary School until in the mid-1970s, the Indianfields Library Board decided to build a separate building, which was finished in 1978.

The library serves approximately 12,000 residents by offering over 60,000 books, videos, talking books, reference and other materials. We have computers with internet access, wireless internet, a Westlaw database, microfilm machines, genealogy records, and many other tools available to serve the public.

The library is a focal point for community events. Rooms are available to borrow for non-profit events and are regularly used for everything from recreational activities, tutoring secessions, health programs, civic and local government meetings.

But rather patrons are looking for a good book, internet access, or just a place to sit and relax, the library is always a great place to visit.
