Bruce started his long entertainment career out on stage in the entertainment industry in Miami, Florida at the age of fifteen working on stage through his high school years.

Bruce holds an AS degree in theatre from a Florida Art School and a BA degree in cinematography from a film school in California.

Bruce started his motion picture and television production company with his wife Anne in 1980. They work together on and off the set. They have one son, born in 1991 while Bruce was filming a Henry David Thoreau film: New Walden in central Florida.

Bruce Merwin is a practiced expert in motion picture and video production. Bruce is an internationally distributed filmmaker. Bruce enjoys traveling and digital film making, as well as supporting sustainable green causes.

As a screenwriter Bruce works with Final Draft and Plot Control. Bruce has written hundreds of cable television commercials for Time Warner’s clients. His writing skills were recognized by the Houston International Film Festival for dramatic adaptation of the screenplay Dionysus from the classic Greek play The Bacchae by Euripides.

Bruce is skilled in cinematography, skilled in lighting design, and digital video sound recording. Bruce has always had great interest in visual communications. Bruce was a member of the Cinematographers Guild IATSE for over twenty years. Bruce’s bachelor’s degree in cinematography from a Hollywood, California film school in 1980 fills out Bruce’s broad spectrum of experience on the set.

Bruce has always enjoyed helping people express themselves and tell their stories through his cinematography.

As an editor Bruce works with high end HD Adobe and Apple editing programs. He was an assistant editor in the editors guild IATSE for many years working on Disney sets as a video assist operator and as an assistant editor with the hit TV show In The Heat of The Night for Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) in the 1990’s.

Bruce has produced independent films since 1977. His films reflect his respect for truth and dignity of man, his third film while in film school was Global Village an international film using win different languages of filmmakers who were in LA during the late seventies. Bruce has always enjoyed being a contributing filmmaker helping many first-time screen directors as well as seasoned Directors Guild of America directors bring uplifting stories to the screen.
