Boulder Run is a beautiful wooded subdivision located on the banks of the Little Red River in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Little Red River emerges below the dam at Greers Ferry Lake and is a first-class trout stream. Trout were introduced to the Little Red River in 1966. Rainbows, browns and cutthroats are caught for 35-river miles below the dam.

Fly fishing on the Little Red is particularly well-known in the angler community. In 1992, Rip Collins caught a 40 pound, 4 ounce brown trout and held the World Record for almost 17 years. Brown trout spawning occurs from mid-October through November, making these particularly great times to fish.

In addition, stocked rainbow trout provide the bulk of the Little Red River’s fish population – hatchery fish raised on a diet of commercial trout chow. Fly fishers try for rainbow trout and brown trout using flies that include sowbugs, wooly buggers and a variety of emergers.
