Basic Rules for BJs GoKart Speedway LLC


PERSONAL SAFETY
1. Must have neck restraint, helmet, LONG SLEEVED JACKET “minimum a denim jacket” preferably race jacket or race suit, LONG PANTS, shoes (no flip flops or sandals), gloves are optional.
2. Women must have long hair pulled back and tucked under horse collar and jacket.
3. NO HOODIES.
4. ALL Drivers helmets and neck braces should be fastened correctly and securely on their head and neck before the start of each race!! IF AT ANY POINT DURING ANY RACE A TRACK OFFICIAL FINDS THAT A DRIVERS HELMET OR NECK BRACE IS NOT FASTENED SECURELY ON A DRIVER THEN THAT DRIVER WILL BE BLACK FLAGGED!!

KART SAFETY
1. Full bodies required. NO THREE PIECE BODIES. If you have a sheet metal body all corners and edges must be curved inward. There cannot be any sharp edges exposed whatsoever!!
2. FULL WIDTH REAR BUMPER IS REQUIRED ON YOUTH KARTS, NO EXCEPTIONS!!
3. All spindle bolts must be drilled and pinned. Rear axle must have circlips.
4. All motors must be checked by track official before able to race.
5. Safety inspection will be performed first of season or first time at the track.
6. Safety issues must be corrected before next race day.
7. All karts must have approved chain guard and brake rotor guard.
8. All karts must have 6” numbers on sides, 8” number on front, and a number plate on back. All numbers must be legible for the scorers.
9. ADULT CLASSES…if you run an aftermarket fuel tank that is mounted on the floor pan, it MUST be vented at the valve cover!!

PIT SAFETY
1. NO FAST DRIVING IN THE PIT AREA!!! If fast driving in the pit area becomes a problem we will go to COLD PITS!!

MOTOR RULES FOR PREDATOR CLASSES
1. All predator motors must be sealed by track official. Motors must be brought to the track or to the track official in an unopened box. If the tape or band on the box has been cut, then that motor will not be sealed. Ten Mile, and Lil Dega seals will be honored at BJs. No unsealed predator motors will be allowed to run in the stock classes!
2. Beginner & Youth A classes must run a 12 or 13 tooth clutch and a 68-70 tooth sprocket.
3. Drivers in the stock classes are allowed to change their valve springs this season.
4. Stock Appearing Predator and Stock Appearing Flathead motors must be stock appearing on the outside but can have anything done to the inside of the motor. Can have aftermarket air filter and fuel tank. No 390 carbs in SA Predator. Must use a 212cc predator carb.
5. The track owner reserves the right to claim any motor he feels is illegal.

DRIVER+KART WEIGHTS
1. Beginner.....230 lbs.…Predator Motor governor optional, Ages 4-6
2. Youth A….260 lbs.…Predator Motor without governor, Ages 7-10
3. Youth B….290 lbs.…Predator Motor without governor, Ages 11-15
4. Youth Wing Class..no weight requirement..Predator Motor without governor.
5. Cage class….290 lbs.….Predator Motor without governor
6. Senior Classes….325 lbs.…Predator, Stock Appearing Flathead, Stock Appearing Predator
7. Heavy Class….390 lbs.….Predator Motor
8. Heavy XL….410lbs…Predator Motor…NO WEIGHT ADDED TO KART
9. Open Class has no weight requirement.

ALL CAGE/WING KARTS WILL RACE IN THEIR OWN CLASS. THIS IS FOR THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVERS IN THE FLAT KARTS!! If at any time there isn’t enough cage/wing karts to make a class race then they will be allowed to race in the Junior 3 class for that night. They must start in the back regardless of where they drew or finished in the heat races. There will be no exceptions to this rule.

OTHER INFORMATION
1. Youth A and Beginner drivers get 3 cautions. After the 2nd caution they will receive a warning. On the 3rd caution they have to leave the race.
2.Youth B, Youth Wing and Adult drivers get 2 cautions. After the 1st caution they will receive a warning, on the 2nd caution they have to leave the race.
3. If a caution is caused before the first lap is complete, NO DRIVER is charged with the caution.
4. If a caution is caused because a lapped kart has not moved to the outside and is in the way of the other drivers, then the lapped driver is charged with the caution.
5. ONCE A DRIVER IS LAPPED THEY MUST MOVE OVER TO THE OUTSIDE AND GET OUT OF THE WAY OF THE OTHER DRIVERS!!!! (lapped flag = blue with yellow stripe)
6. Any unsportsman like conduct on the track will result in the driver being black flagged.
7. ALL RESTARTS, after the first lap has been completed, will be single file. Drivers must stay in single file until the last kart passes the starting point.
8. There will be a drivers meeting before the races begin. Drivers meeting will be at the lineup board every week. ALL DRIVERS MUST ATTEND DRIVERS MEETINGS.
9. ONCE THE WHITE FLAG IS THROWN IF A CAUTION OCCURS, THE RACE WILL PROCEED UNDER CAUTION. THERE WILL NOT BE A RESTART OF THE LAST LAP.
10. IF A DRIVER INTENTIONALLY HITS ANOTHER KART AFTER THE WHITE FLAG IS OUT, THAT DRIVER WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.
11. THE TOP FIVE KARTS FINISHING EACH RACE MUST GO THROUGH TECH LANE. IF A DRIVER FAILS TO GO THROUGH TECH LANE, THAT DRIVER WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.
12. IF ANYONE HAS A COMPLAINT WITH ANY TRACK OFFICIAL THEN TAKE IT UP WITH SAID OFFICIAL IN PRIVATE AT THE TRACK.
13. ANY BAD MOUTHING OF THE TRACK OR ANY TRACK OFFICIAL ON SOCIAL MEDIA SITES WILL RESULT IN THAT PERSON BEING BANNED FROM THE TRACK FOR A PERIOD OF 2 WEEKS FOR THE FIRST OFFENSE , A MONTH FOR THE SECOND OFFENSE, AND THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON FOR THE THIRD OFFENSE. ANY DRIVER FOUND TO BE DOING THIS WILL LOSE ALL POINTS TO DATE!
14. ANY FIGHTING AT THE TRACK WILL RESULT IN THE GUILTY PARTIES BEING BANNED PERMANENTLY.
15. All classes will run 2 heats, unless otherwise stated that night. Where a driver finishes in both heats is averaged to get the drivers starting point for the feature.
16. YOU MUST FINISH THE FEATURE TO GET POINTS FOR THE RACE.
17. Points will be posted at the end of the season. No points will be posted during the race season. If at any time you have a question concerning your points contact Katrina.
18. Kart registering will be open until 15 minutes before race time. If a driver fails to register by the time the books are closed, they will begin the first heat at the back of the lineup.
19. In order to race in the Championship race a driver must have raced at the minimum of 3 times during regular season racing.
20. No working on kart on the track!
21. Once a driver leaves the track he/she cannot come back into the race.
22. NO ONE IS ALLOWED AT THE FLAG STAND OR THE LAP COUNTING STAND DURING THE RACES!!!
23. DRIVERS AND SPECTATORS CANNOT STAND AT THE STARTING GRID DURING THE RACES. DRIVERS AND SPECTATORS MUST STAY BEHIND THE FENCE DURING THE RACES.
24. After 2 cautions occur on the start of a race, cautions will start counting and we will go to a single file start. This applies to all classes.
25. If a driver jumps the start of a race more than once that driver will be charged with a caution and sent to the back of the lineup.
26. Brake checking…if a driver brake checks another driver and a caution occurs, the driver that brake checked will be charged with the caution and sent to the back of the lineup.
27. If you start the heats in 1 kart and you switch to a different kart for the second heat and feature for whatever reason, then you will have to start the second heat at the back of the lineup and you must race the feature with the second kart.
28. If one driver starts the heats in a class then the same driver must race both heats and the feature for that class..NO SWITCHING DRIVERS!!
29. Rules/regulations are subject to be changed/amended at any time by track officials.
30. ALL DECISIONS BY TRACK OFFICIALS ARE FINAL!!

CLAIM RULE
We will not have a protest rule. Instead we will have a claim rule. A driver can claim (take possession) another drivers motor in the same class. In order to claim a motor it has to be a motor in the same class as you. You must pay the owner of the claimed motor $150. And you must claim the motor while the kart is on the scale after the feature race. The claim rule applies to all sealed predator classes.
ONLY THE TOP 3 DRIVERS IN A CLASS CAN CLAIM ANOTHER DRIVERS MOTOR!!
If a driver does not give up his/her motor once it’s been claimed, that motor will be marked, seals will be removed, and will not be allowed to race at BJs again. Driver will be disqualified, lose all points to date, and be banned for 2 weeks for the first offense.
We WILL NOT tech any motors. That’s what the claim rule is for.
THE OPEN, SA FLATHEAD, and SA PREDATOR CLASSES ARE EXEMPT FROM THE CLAIM RULE!!
CLASSES TO BE RAN FOR THE 2017 SEASON ARE:
Beginner….ages 4-6 Heavy SA Predator
Youth A…ages 7-10 Heavy XL Youth Wing
Youth B…ages 11-15 SA Flathead Youth Cage
Adult Light Open Women
Minimum Weight for each class is listed above in Driver + Kart Weights section above.
