Bayouside -1847 3.55

Located on the banks of Bayou Rapides, about 18 miles west of Alexandria, this elegant, yet simple house is flanked by two chimneys, was originally roofed with wood shingles and has beams that are mortised and pegged. The gallery is 60 feet long and more than 12 feet wide. The simple columns along the gallery add a touch of the Greek revival architectural style, popular at the time.
