The BARS Institute is an early childhood education intervention center, intellectual empowerment, and exploratory learning program for young boys of color living in the Jackson Metropolitan area.

Brothers Against Racial Stereotypes was formed to combat and control the negative portrayals of African American and Latino males in the media. The BARS Institute is our response to the notion that young boys of color typically end up behind bars and contribute nothing to society.

BARS Institute was created to raise the bar in regards to changing and controlling the image of boys and men of color. The institute molds young men of color to become free-thinking individuals who will not only have control of their destinies, but also be able to impact the lives and change the conditions of the people within their communities. One of the main focal points on the BARS Institute is education through empowerment, one that would enable students to think critically and control their own course of learning.
