Atwater Avenue Elementary School is a elementary school in Los Angeles, California.Atwater Avenue Elementary, which serves grades K-6, is a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District. The school was named after the village which it is located in, Atwater Village.The school is located at 3271 Silver Lake Blvd. in Atwater Village in Los Angeles in the Glassel Park district of the city. Students who graduate from Atwater usually attend Washington Irving Middle School, Thomas Starr King Middle School, Eagle Rock Middle School, or Holy Trinity Catholic School. After Middle School, students from Atwater usually either go to John Marshall High School or Eagle Rock High School.HistoryIn September 1922 was founded and had approximately 200 students attending. Prior to the foundation of the school the land was a lettuce farm owned privately. The area of Atwater Village, which was founded in 1910, was in such great need for a school that in early 1922 the land was purchased and a provisional school was built. In late 1922 the construction of a permanent foundation was started. In September 1923 the school officially opened. In 1924 the PTA was formed, which help set up the May Festival and Christmas Festival which sole purposes were to raise money to buy a Victrola.
