A granite shut-ins on the Castor River adds an interesting geologic feature with pink boulders lining the river banks. The shut-ins area is perfect for summertime swimming and wading. Year round you can hike the beautiful Cedar Glade Trail, a 1-mile hike that explores the scenic area.

The forest's timber species range from mixed hardwoods to shortleaf pine to cedar glades. The Driscoll Tract contains two old grist mill sites that date back to the mid 1800s, lending a historical flavor to the area.

The main entrance is in Madison County east of Fredericktown on Route J, then south on Route W and east on County Road 208.

Admission is free and pets are permitted on a leash.
