Focusing on service to veterans, servicemembers and communities, The American Legion currently has about 2.4 million members in 14,000 posts worldwide.
There is no rank at the Post and a corporal and a colonel can share drinks and good times.
Family members can join our Auxiliary or the Sons of American Legion (SAL's) organizations that are our support groups. American Legion eligibility is for a veteran to have served at least one day during time of conflict and be honorably discharged from the military.

Panama; December 20, 1989 - January 31, 1990
Lebanon, Grenada; August 24, 1982 - July 31, 1984
Vietnam; February 28, 1961 - May 7, 1975
Korea; June 25, 1950 - January 31, 1955
World War II;December 7, 1941 - December 31, 1946
World War I;April 6, 1917 - November 11, 1918
