Often imitated, but never duplicated a small shop named American Graffiti tattoo was opened in 1991 by legendary tattooer Eric Hogan and his two partners, Scott Sylvia and Nate Sponsler. As their quality of work spread throughout the town, their clientel and reputation grew. With business booming it was very apparent that it was time for a larger location. Soon after, they purchased an old Victorian, two-story house in the heart of midtown Sacramento. It was there that the artists continued to produce top quality tattoos while customers lined up and out the door. Eric had achieved his dream of becoming a world-class tattoo artist and owning a successful business. After the death of Eric Hogan on April 7, 2001, his wife Thea Hogan took over full ownership. American Graffiti is about family and good business, that is why it has been home to amazing tattoo artists like Freddy Corbin, Scott Sylvia, Jeff Whitehead, Gordon "Wrath" McCloud, Rob Hostetter, Tycho Veldhoen, Jim Vanis, Eric Ross, Eiland Hogan, Curtis Phillips, Lee Hanna and Brent Pattan. American Graffiti has also played host to numerous world renowned tattoo artists such as Gil Montie, Permanent Mark, Hori-Kin, Adam Ciferri, Beppe, Moe Copelletta, Juan Puente, Jeff Rassier, Jared Isenberg, Pee Wee, Rudy Fritsch, Amanda Toy and Marco Hernandez. Along with many other guests throughout the years. American Graffiti is currently home to tattoo artists; Eric Ross, Andy Campoy, Miguel "Uzi" Montgomery, Chuco Moreno, Sam Drupiewski and piercer; Big Eric. The shop changed locations in 2008 and is currently located at 1617 J Street in Sacramento and it is still family owned and operated by Thea Hogan and son Dixon.
