American Boiler Cleaning Solutions’ products – BCS40 and BCS180 are Combustion Catalysts for the fireside treatment of industrial boilers. They contain a mixture of Alumina, Iron (both ferric and ferrous), Silica, Magnesium, Manganese Potassium, Sodium and Calcium. They are non-toxic, non-explosive and non-corrosive - dry, granular, and free flowing. Many users of Combustion Catalysts prefer a liquid product such as Magnesium Hydroxide. We can provide this product in bulk at very competitive prices.

HOW OUR PRODUCT WORKS

When introduced into the Combustion Chamber of a Boiler, the elements react to prevent the by-products of combustion from adhering to the heating surfaces and to each other, thereby preventing the build-up of clinker/slag and reducing Gas Path fouling. When introduced into a boiler that has a build up of clinker/slag deposits, the elements leach into small fissures in the deposits and over time, cause the deposits to lose adhesion and fall. Our products have the ability to spread into and clean areas of the boiler that have not been physically accessible for cleaning. By continuously feeding a small quantity of the Catalyst into an operating Boiler, the clinker/slag removal rate increases, thereby opening the Hot Gas Paths through the Boiler resulting in better Heat Transfer and increased Efficiency. The resultant Ash is loose and dry and is either free falling or easily removed by Soot Blowers.

INCREASED BOILER EFFICIENCY

Fewer deposits on the Tubes increases Heat Transfer. This equates to less Fuel burnt for the same Steam Production.


HELPS TO REDUCE UNDESIRABLE STACK EMISSIONS

The Magnesium and Calcium Oxides help to reduce the SO2 and SO3 vapors that are the by-products of combustion. Heavy metals such as Vanadium are converted to easily removable powdery Salts and are not deposited on the Heat Transfer surfaces as corrosive metals.

PROMOTES A LESS CORROSIVE ENVIRONMENT IN THE BOILER

By removing the clinker/slag deposits from the Tube Banks, the highly corrosive Alkaline environment is greatly reduced.

HELPS TO EXTEND TUBE LIFE.

Reduction of the corrosive environment reduces Tube Pitting particularly in Air Heaters and lower sections of Generating Banks resulting in longer tube life.

SHORTENS BOILER CLEANING TIME.

As a result of the ash/clinker/slag deposits being greatly reduced, and the physical properties of the ash being altered, to keep it soft and free flowing. High Pressure Water Washing and/or mechanical cleaning are almost eliminated. Often only a sweep down and vacuum out is required.

EXTENDED RUN TIME BETWEEN OUTAGES

Boilers are usually shut down on a regular basis to remove the Combustion By-Products so that the Efficiency is restored. The run time between outages is greatly extended because the Combustion By-Products are being removed on a continuous basis.

COST SAVINGS:

The Benefits detailed above all have positive cost saving properties. Some of the properties are obviously easy to convert into Cash Savings. Increased efficiency means less fuel burnt. The savings on Fuel cost are easily calculable. In the same way, shorter down time means lower maintenance costs and again this is easy to quantify and calculate. The less tangible savings are the Extended Tube Life and the Reduction of Emissions. These Benefits obviously have a positive financial impact but are more difficult to quantify.

COST OF USING BCS PRODUCTS

While the cost would have to be estimated in each individual application, we can present information produced by other Customers that may assist you with your cost considerations. It is fair to say that the Cost Savings far outweigh the Product Cost.
