Almost Antiques and Highlands Estate Sales and Liquidations grew out of a small antique mall in East Central Florida. The store deals in antiques, quirky design items, garden gear, mid-century modern, cottage look, the new-old industial look, books, clothes, pottery, porcelain, costume jewelry and anything that strikes the owners as interesting.

L.A. Davis, a partner in the business with her husband Larry Almond, is a writer whose work has appeared in Florida Design, I-95 Antiques as well as the local paper where she had a column called Treasure Hunt. She is the author of The Jolly Art of Junking and currently is finishing a book Estate Sales: Selling (and Buying) Nana's Treasures. In that book she covers two important facets of estate sales: one, there usually is grief to contend with -- even if the seller is just moving to smaller quarters and two, one should never, ever throw anything away before the professionals get there. She says, "you never know what treasure may be lurking headed for the trash can or dump which could be worth $100 or more."
