Alice's Embrace 2.83

Alice Figueira passed away from Alzheimer's disease in May 2011. Her daughter, Diane Lewis, had knit her a blanket during her illness. After her dear mom passed away, Diane founded Alice's Embrace to help others going through the same daily struggles as her mom. Patterns for lap blankets and prayer shawls were created with each being named after stories about Alice.

We have 58 patterns available free on our website. Knitters and crocheters from around the globe make items and send them to Alice's Embrace for delivery to memory care facilities.

When delivering to a facility, the Alice's Embrace volunteers will bring many items so that the residents can choose their own special gift. As an example, if there are 20 residents at a facility then 40-50 items are taken by the Alice's Embrace team. During the delivery the residents come to life with smiles all around. It is all a very magical experience.

We have 4-5 deliveries to memory care facilities each month, with the number of residents ranging from 15-60 who receive the lap blankets and prayer shawls.
