Based at Louisville International Airport in Louisville, Ky., the 123rd Airlift Wing performs a variety of key Air Force missions, including intra-theater airlift, contingency response, explosive ordnance disposal, combat control, and special tactics search and rescue.

As a component of the Kentucky National Guard, the wing also serves the Commonwealth of Kentucky, providing disaster-response capability and other essential services as directed by the governor.

The wing currently flies eight C-130H Hercules aircraft and has approximately 1,200 members.
