Brynteg School is one of the largest secondary schools in Wales. It is located on Ewenny Road in the town of Bridgend, Wales. This school is one of seven comprehensive schools that serve the town, but the school mainly receives pupils from the Brackla, Litchard and Town Centre areas.HistoryBrynteg was created after the merger of Heol Gam Secondary Modern School and the Bridgend Grammar School for Boys, Then it used to be called Brynteg Comprehensive School. The school site is divided in two, with the Lower School once being Heol Gam and the Upper School being the site of the original Bridgend Grammar School. The site was formed as the County School in 1935. In 1971 it became a comprehensive.The head teacher is Mr. Richard Davies.There are Two Deputy Heads: Mrs. Alison Grabham and Mr. Rob Hopkins.There are two assistant headteachers: Ms. Caroline Nightingale and Mr. Richard Martin.There are eight faculties: English (Chris Jones) - English Language, English Literature, Literacy, Star Reader, Communication. Mathematics (Deborah Kinsey) - Double Mathematics, Mathematics Mechanics, Mathematics Statistics, Application of Number, Numeracy. Sciences (Steve Jones) - Biology, Physics, Electronics, Chemistry. Humanities (Lowri Florence) - History, Geography, Business, Sociology, Travel & Tourism, Economics, Religious Studies, Welsh Bacculerate, Psychology Technologies (Chris Harper) - Food and Nutrition, Information Technology, Child Development, Fashion & Textiles, Engineering, CIDA, Computer Science Expressive Arts (Zoe Fender) - Music, Drama, Art, Photography, Physical Education and Sport. Languages (Debra Walsh) - French, German and Welsh. Learning Support (Natalie Ward). Recent cost saving measures and staff redundancies have meant the school losing school subjects including: Geology (AS & A Level), Government and Politics (AS & A Level), Media Studies (GSCE, AS &a A Level), Film Studies (GSCE), Drama (KS3), German (Year 7 - KS3).
