We are York's newest secondary school, located on the west side of the city of York. We serve the community previously covered by Lowfield and Oaklands Schools.

Our school population is approximately 800 pupils. We believe this allows us to have a school which is big enough to be able to offer a wide range of courses, particularly for pupils in Years 10 and 11, but small enough for all pupils to be known as individuals.

York High School is a specialist sports college taking advantage of our new excellent sporting facilities on the Cornlands Road site. The sports college specialism is about much more than Physical Education and talented sports players. We will use this specialism to develop the ethos of sport, including the values of teamwork, leadership, fair play and being part of a wider world and community. It is also about healthy lifestyle and the importance of taking care of yourself. We believe these values can be applied across our school so that pupils achieve high standards in all of their subjects and develop as good citizens. We expect high standards of behaviour and appearance, and we will build relationships based on trust and respect. Information Communication Technology will be at the centre of our new developments and we will use new technology to enhance teaching and learning.
