World Guitars was started by Jeff Pumfrett, former owner of Machinehead Music in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. Machinehead was a huge success and after 23 years Jeff sold up and retired. After a few months he missed music retail so much that he came up with an idea, something he had been thinking about for years, a high end guitar shop stocking some of the best brands available. The premises were as important as the location, he wanted something very different from every other guitar shop in the UK. After months of looking he found the perfect place, The Old Magistrates Court in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. Not only was this an incredible building, it was also a few miles away from the M4 and M5.
