Surgery
The expertise of surgical team covers a wide range of
orthopaedic and soft tissue procedures including:
• head/neck surgery
• fracture repair
• respiratory surgery
• reproductive surgery minimal invasive ‘keyhole’ surgeries
such as:
- arthroscopy
- laparoscopy.

Medicine
The expertise of medicine clinicians covers the major clinical disciplines including:
• cardiopulmonary medicine
• neurology
• gastroenterology
• dermatology
• endocrine and metabolic diseases
• infectious diseases.

Emergency and critical care
The Centre is equipped for both medical and surgical treatment of critically ill horses, including:
• horses with colic
• horses with debilitating and systemic diseases
• a custom-built foal and mare box with nursing station
is available and there are full diagnostic facilities for foals
requiring critical care
Facilities are available for provision of intensive medical
management and monitoring of cases including:
• stable-side laboratory facilities
• isolation wards
• intensive care stables.

Anaesthesia
Our fully equipped anaesthetic facilities are specially designed to optimise the care of horses requiring surgery. We have two pairs of induction and recovery rooms with facilities for assisted recovery.

Diagnostic Imaging
Digitised imaging modalities are available to facilitate the diagnosis
of a diverse range of cases referred to the Weipers Centre Equine Hospital.
Imaging facilities include:
• MRI system - the first of its kind in the UK, able to obtain high quality images including the foot, fetlock, suspensory region, knee and hock
• radiography
• ultrasonography
• endoscopy (including dynamic respiratory endoscopy)
• gastroscopy
• radiotelemetric (exercising) ECG and 24 hour ECG
• nuclear scintigraphy.
Equine Lameness Diagnosis and Therapy
We are pleased to offer a complete range of services for the diagnosis and treatment of lameness in the horse including:
• MRI
• sensor-based gait analysis
• arthroscopic surgery
• shockwave and stem cell therapies.

Ophthalmology
The centre provides an ophthalmology service and deals with all facets of equine ophthalmology, including surgical procedures.
Physiotherapy
We have a Category A member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy. Physiotherapy is used as part of assessment and rehabilitation of specific cases.

Farriery
For cases requiring remedial farriery we work closely with Fellows of The Worshipful Company of Farriers, who visit the Weipers Centre Equine Hospital on a weekly basis.
