Established in 1993, Walsall Community Transport is a charitable not-for-profit organisation whose principle objectives include the provision of a fleet of vehicles for the use of other voluntary and community groups throughout the borough of Walsall. Community Transport currently operates a fleet of 20 modern, well equipped vehicles most of which are specially adapted to accommodate the needs of individuals with mobility difficulties, including wheelchair users and because Community Transport does not have a 'profit' motive, its charges are usually much lower than those typically offered by commecial equivalents, bringing safe and affordable transport within the reach of groups even with the smallest of budgets. Any not-for-profit organisation can apply for membership to use Community Transport's resources to accommodate their member's needs whether it's a group of elderly residents who want to enjoy a day out; or a group of young people such as the scouts or a sports team organising a trip to a leisure venue or attraction. Community Transport can also provide services on a regular basis under contract. With some 200 groups currently registered to use the service Community Transport provides their members with access to a whole range of activities, events and amenities - ease of booking, modern well equipped vehicles and friendly and caring staff and volunteers are all factors that are making transport less of a nightmare for groups around Walsall.
Did you know we also operate a door to door bus service to help elderly less mobile residents of the Bloxwich and Pheasey areas to go shopping? The service has been developed to help older residents who struggle to carry their shopping home using conventional bus services. The service is financially supported by Centro.
