I grew up with two brothers suffering with Dyslexia and Dyspraxia and a spectrum of autism. As a family we learned to be very patient and help as much as we could.

After being in a few jobs like Asda café and Bar work I found that working with children was what I wanted to do. I have a way of making children laugh and find it easy to turn a tense situation into a bit of a giggle and all's forgotten.
I started babysitting for a few customers that drank in the bar I worked in, on my nights off.

I also volunteered at a children's petting farm called the Lincolnsfield centre in Watford where I was born. The children's charity manager approached me and asked me in person if I would work for them full time, based in the respite centre working with the children (some disadvantaged). The job included me running art, jewellery making and clay classes. I would take the children on mini beast hunts, tours of the children's petting farm and organise rabbit, chicken and reptile handling. I avoided the tarantula though. I also cooked various meals for up to 70 children and teachers who were visiting on school trips. I also cleaned the bedding, rooms and toilets and all the other residential buildings that had been used. After it was apparent I was good at my job, I was asked if I would be interested in being a party host at the weekends. So eventually I worked 7 days a week at the Lincolnsfield centre but mainly because I loved my job.

After three years and a bit of a tough patch in London I decided to go on a small holiday to the highlands Fort William where I fell in love with the place. I had painted scenes like this in my A level Art and Design exams and I just had to move here. After having my two children Tyler 8 1/2 and Anna almost 5 I decided I would build up the same type of charity here that I had been part of before, but for now child-minding is suiting me great but I do have big dreams.

My house is like a mini nursery and I have read Montessori books and admire the type of learning. Most of the toys encourage free play and give the children the option to use their imaginations. If they want to paint they can, if they want to get the play dough out, they can, they can bake if I have enough ingredients to throw something together, they can. I have 12 boxes in the play room full of things like music instruments, Lego, art and crafts, jigsaws, cogs, early learning centres little people, Duplo etc. I have a toy kitchen with food. Books, dolls houses, buggies and babies with outfits, Outside I have a play structure with two swings and a seesaw swing, a sandpit and slide. There are four small watering cans to water the tomato and strawberry plants the children plant themselves, we have a basket ball hoop and net to throw balls through and a few wheeled toys to drive about on. The downstairs loo is kitted out with a child seat, toy story characters on the wall and steps. I also use my living room for films, singing along to nursery rhymes on youtube, handling Echo the Gecko and most of all building massive train tracks that go from the living room into the playroom, this can be a very serious time for me haha. Anyway I love my job and love being rewarded with smiling happy children. I think the parents I currently childmind for would be happy to give a reference if requested, just pop a message on my page and I'm sure you'll have a reply from a few of them. Anyway thank you for learning more about me and what I do and I hope to hear from you soon. Vikki xx
