I started Train Your Brain (TYB) in 2015, after seeing first hand the huge benefits that using the Soroban Abacus had on my own three childrens’ development in maths.

After that, I mastered the use of the Soroban Abacus and understood how this could greatly assist learners in using the four number operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Train Your Brain is a small business based in Charlton Kings, catering for children from 6 – 12 years old in Cheltenham and the wider area. The main aim of the business is to introduce an ancient Japanese calculation method in a modern way, to significantly raise standards in mental arithmetic and knowledge of numbers.

Although the Soroban Abacus is an ancient calculation method, it may be the first time you have heard of this. Using this longstanding method, in combination with modern technology, promises to motivate learners to achieve better results in the use of mental arithmetic. In addition to this, use of the Soroban Abacus, has been proven to develop the human brain.
