Our purpose-built nursery unit, attached to the school has full disabled access and looks out
onto a walled nursery garden and outdoor play area. The nursery is a bright, stimulating
environment.
Touch Nursery has a capacity for 50 children in our morning class and 50 children in our
afternoon class, within two connected playrooms - Butterflies and Rainbows. Each playroom
has access to our outdoor area.
As the nursery is attached to the school children also have supervised access to some of the
wider school facilities such as the gym hall, stage, wildlife garden and playground.
Our nursery team work together with parents, children and other professionals to ensure the
very best outcomes for our children. Children are encouraged to make links between home
and nursery and their wider world. Children are supported to be as independent as possible.
We help children develop their creativity, perseverance and co-operation.
Children have regular opportunities to express their views and learn to make decisions on
issues which are relevant to them, such as what to buy for snacks or the resources which
need to be added to the Home Corner.
Throughout the year the children will be visited by people in our local community such as the
Fire Service, Community Police Officer, Health Visitors etc. This supports the children's
learning in different contexts. We are also keen to involve parents in sharing their talents and
skills to support the children's learning.
As well as providing good role models, nursery staff also talk with children about friendships,
how to resolve difficulties, being kind and gentle, showing good manners and showing
tolerance and respect. Where there are concerns regarding a child's behaviour we work with
parents in partnership to resolve the difficulties. When necessary and with parents
permission we will also involve other agencies.
