Thornhill Music Festival 3.39

THORNHILL

Thornhill lies at the junction of the A76 Dumfries to Kilmarnock and A702 New Galloway to Edinburgh roads in the mid-section of the beautiful Nith Valley in Dumfriesshire. The village is an attractive and vibrant community of some 2,000 people, and Dumfries and Galloway is a well-known music destination, hosting such successful events as the Wickerman, Moniaive Folk and Bluegrass Festivals.


This event was started by LEWIS HAMILTON MUSIC, and we are aided most ably from fund-raising to venue negotiation, by Iain and Jim Renicks, and John Holroyd, our contacts in the town. Our own band are in the lucky position of knowing many musicians across many genres, and after lengthy chats with the local landlords we decided to put on something similar to the established and successful Blues Festivals such as Shetland, Arbroath, Callander and in particular Montrose (we've played at all of them several times), where the bands are paid directly by the venues, but differing in that we wanted to broaden the musical scope.

VENUES

The Thornhill Inn, The Farmer Arms, The Buccleuch & Queensberry Arms Hotel, Thomas Tosh and the Bowling Club have all signed up for this new venture, to take place the first weekend in May, a Bank Holiday weekend. There will certainly certainly a mighty jam session or two, hosted by Lewis, and all bands being paid directly by the venues involved and will the chance to do some networking and shift some merch.

With the exception of the Bowling Club events, this is a totally free entry to all event, all we ask is that you bring friends and family, buy soup and supper, and a few tasty pints.
