Welcome to The Travellers Rest Pub, Restaurant and Caravan Club authorised Campsite
The Travellers has been in Newtown as a building since the 14th Century, surrounded by Farms, Fields and Countryside Serving carefully selected and nurtured Real Ales, wines and fine foods. Paul and Amanda your friendly Landlord and Landlady and Head Chef Eddie(who won an AA Rosette when he was Head Chef at the Queens Hotel in Portsmouth) welcome you to, what we feel is, the perfect country pub. Just minutes from Portsmouth and Fareham to get away from it all for a lovely meal and good company..Perfect for back packers, trekkers, walkers and cyclists...and even camping too with a large serviced site, stables next door and on the door step of The Bere Forest, 100 Arces Woods and The Southdowns National Park. The campsite is an official Caravan and Camping Club Site set in the grounds of The Travellers Rest in Newtown with great facilities including childrens play area, electric hook ups, shower blocks and free wifi. Close (20 minutes away) to the Ferries at Portsmouth Harbour, we are also the ideal stop over for caravaners. We will shortly be opening a shop in the grounds supplying basic provisions, fresh on site cooked bread and farm produce. We are also looking in to the possibility of incorporating a Post Office in to the shop too.
