The brewery and pub have been a feature of lower end of the town since the 18th century, alongside the impressive church of St John the Baptist. The pub gets its name from the six bells in the tower.

The original brewery closed in the early twentieth century. A new plant was installed on the same site, and began production in 1997. We have successfully served the pub and free trade ever since. With growing demand for our beers, in 2010 we decided to install a new brewery with three times greater capacity. Our new brewery has been designed and built from scratch and incorporates many state of the art features to enhance efficiency and quality control.
