At the Raj, we recreate the extra ordinary tastes and flavours unique to the palaces and high-homes of India and Bangladesh combining an element of surprise with genuine authenticity. The cultures came together in Bombay — the Goans, Bengalis, Gujerafis, Mughals and Portuguese — for you now to relish in Edinburgh.


Raj has long been a thriving, cosmopolitan and multicultural city with its cuisine bringing together many different culinary influences in exotic harmony. Regional recipes were shared; new dishes were created; and gradually a unique cuisine emerged— which is now synonymous with India’s financial, entertainment and culinary capital.
Back in 1986, the Raj restaurant was created around the idea of bringing the cuisine of this great city to Edinburgh. Today, the Raj’s menus reflect this ongoing exploration featuring the freshest seafood, chicken, and lamb, as well as plenty to please vegetarian palates. Our menus feature a wide variety of cooking techniques, from slow cooked curries to grills and kebabs as well as tandooris from the clay oven.
Our wine list reflects a carefully considered selecfion of new and old world wines, specially chosen to complement our cuisine, with our sommelier on—hand to provide expert advice.
If wine is not your thing, we have a wide range of Indian and artisan beers, whiskies and other exotic spirits, ensuring a perfect partnership for every guest’s palate.

SUNDAY BUFFET
Every Sunday we host a mouth-watering Buffet from 12.00pm — 10pm for the whole family, with a wide choice of dishes from our regularly changing buffet menu. Our buffet menu also includes a huge selection of desserts.
