"There is a need for a student focused equine training provider in Kent" says Phil Karnavas – Executive Principal of

the Canterbury Academy – "For many students this will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to join a large sixth form offering equine studies. We identify with the quality and ethos at the Kent Equine Academy and their determination to put the student first. We are proud to partner this venture and look forward to expanding this outstanding facility even further."

Overlooking the Swale and Medway Estuaries and set in beautiful rolling countryside the KEA boasts some of the best riding facilities in the South East including 2 International arenas and a superb indoor complex. A new classroom with the latest technology and teaching aids, 65 acres of paddocks and pastures and over 40 wonderful horses and ponies makes the KEA the perfect place to learn.

"While the last decade has seen considerable improvement in the academic standards of equine training, the practical training has not always kept pace", says Lynn Petersen, Chief Executive of the British Horse Society.

"Training horses is a hands-on game; it doesn't come exclusively from a book. The Kent Equine Academy understands this and successfully combines academic and hands-on training. This is an incredibly exciting development in the UK Equestrian market and our industry will be far better for this combined approach."

Training is delivered by experienced coaches and tutors with specialists delivering the veterinary and core science subjects. Expert career advisors and industry links help develop and evolve student ‘Moving on plans’.

"We are delighted to see the expansion of the Kent Equine Academy" says Alex Copeland – Head of Sports Development at the British Equestrian Federation. "Our organisation promotes the development of Equestrian Sports in the UK and we need a trained and supported workforce to drive this. This is exactly the sort of Training provider we need to produce the next generation of coaches."

All of the training takes place on the Callum Park Campus near Sittingbourne including the all important work experience aspect.

"All too often we see qualified job applicants ill equipped for the workplace or hear from students either lost in large groups or seemingly spending all of their time mucking out." - says Louisa McGee – Equine Principal at the Kent Equine Academy – "We learn about our students as individuals first and then make sure that the training suits their needs and those of future employers."
