The Alfred Free House is a family run pub that prides itself on its wide range of real ales, excellent food and a diverse and changing calendar of social events all set in a warm and relaxed environment.

Since acquiring the free hold in 2009, The Alfred has become one of the best places to sample, drink and enjoy various real ales from breweries across the country. With our ‘house beer’ of Bowman’s Wallops Wood and three guest ale pumps that shift after each barrel, there will always be a beer for you at The Alfred. Not only do we care about the quality of our beer but as we deal directly with Breweries we are able to offer Farnham’s cheapest pint of real Ale. (September 2015) Our passion for beer has been accredited by CAMRA as we have featured in the Good Beer Guide for the last six years. Alongside our day-to-day Ale offerings, we also hold two annual beer festivals in May and October that offer over 20 real ales alongside a few guest ciders.


Even though we pride ourselves on our real ale, it’s not all about the bitter! We also offer a wide range of lagers, wines,spirits and soft drinks.

We believe that a village pub should be more than just a place to drink, but also a social community asset that works as a hub for the area. For this reason we strive to offer a warm and friendly environment with various social events throughout the year. Whether this is our monthly Jam nights, our murder mystery evenings, car rally’s, Morris Dancing performances or our differing charity evenings which included our very first music festival this Summer. We even have our very own golf society so we hope that there is an event for everybody.

The Alfred is run by a family of ‘Pub People’ and for this reason we work hard to preserve the ideals of the great british pub. It is a profession that we enjoy and take pride in, so we hope to see you down the pub soon!

Food is also big part of what we offer here. With steak night Thursdays and fish & chip Fridays, alongside our ever changing a la carte menu, there is something for everyone. We serve food Thursday, Friday, Saturday evenings, and Sunday lunchtime (these times can be extended for large groups and over special events such as beer festivals and Christmas).
