TGGS Old Girls' Association 2.4

TOGA (TGGS Old Girls’ Association) was started in its current form 20 years ago after the celebrations to mark the 80th year of TGGS. The idea was to form a point of contact for girls trying to get in touch with friends from school days and for those who are interested to keep abreast of current events / developments in the school. At present, members receive a newsletter three times a year and we give an annual donation to the school; this year’s is for the refurbishment of the iBach piano which you will no doubt remember from school assemblies. The piano itself is also 100 years old this year!

In recent years the development of websites (for the school) and of social media for finding / keeping in touch with old friends has meant a rethink of the way TOGA operates. Rather than see this as the end of our Association, we view it as an opportunity to reach out to more ‘old’ girls by developing the use of social media to share pictures and organise more events in varying parts of the country. Our goal for the future is to be totally internet driven making a subscription fee redundant, but sadly at present it is still necessary to cover running costs.
