Temple Learning Academy 3.33

Temple Learning Academy is an all through free school opening in Leeds LS9 / LS15 in September 2015.

Initially opening to reception aged children, the school will take 120 Year 7 students from September 2016 before reaching full capacity in 2021.

The vision that lies at the heart of the Academy is to be a world class centre of excellence that will challenge and inspire its pupils to achieve their full potential and place them at the heart of the local, national and global communities. Our pupils will be highly literate and numerate and acquire a capacity for lifelong learning which will lead to a successful and satisfying life.

The Academy’s values will reflect the core co-operative values of the Trust. Pupils, their families and staff will forge a unique learning environment which will empower them to actively engage in helping themselves. They will take responsibility for developing a positive approach to life both within the school and later in life.

The Temple Learning Academy has a distinctive offer which provides a curriculum focusing upon the core subjects of English, maths and science but is also supported by exceptional enrichment opportunities. This offer will broaden pupils’ horizons through an outstanding range of opportunities and experiences, allowing them to discover new interests, talents and skills. Our learners will not only make rapid and sustained progress but also develop a set of key skills that will allow them to flourish as active citizens within the wider society.

The Academy will offer:
Open access to pupils and their families through an extended school day and being open all year round.
Family centred pre-school learning and learning through play and discovery.
Access to a formal curriculum which establishes the strong foundations of literacy and numeracy but also enables
students to develop key life skills such as problem solving through project based activities that reflect the key strands of
the national curriculum.
Access to a formal enrichment programme which forms part of the extended day and builds a cultural confidence
through broadening their real life experiences.
Access to wraparound care via an onsite extended services team providing easy links to co-ordinated multi agency support.

The high quality provision of the Temple Learning Academy is supported by existing Trust Schools, who are recognised by Ofsted as good and outstanding and will be delivered by qualified teachers and support staff.

The success of the Trust’s bid lies in the widespread support of the community and how they saw, through our extensive consultation process, that the Academy would help meet their demand for places in our oversubscribed primary schools as well as meet the new demands from a rising birth rate and new housing developments. The Academy is not a competitor to existing schools within the community but firmly a part of the family of schools within the Temple Newsam Learning Partnership.
