Hi, my name is Steve.

I teach drums and percussion in my purpose built studios, named 'Drum Magic'.
I have a life long passion for drumming and music of all styles. It gives me great pleasure and satisfaction to pass on what knowledge I have built up over my many years of drumming and teaching.
I have been drumming for over 50 years and teaching for over 30 years.
I teach people of all ages and abilities.
I teach both one-to-one and group lessons/workshops.

Instruments that I teach:

Drum Kit - All Styles inc. Rock, Pop, Jazz, Bigband, Funk, Punk, Reggae, Metal, Double Pedal, Hip Hop, Dubstep, Drum 'n' Bass, Jungle ,Break beats.

Congas, Bongos, Timbales ans Assorted Afro Cuban Instruments.

Djembe - African Rhythms (Mali, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Senegal etc.)

Darabuka - Incl. Middle Eastern Rhythms (Egyptian, Turkish, Greek, Arabian)

Bodhran - Irish Drum (Used for Reels, Jigs, Hornpipes, Polkas, Marches etc.)

Tar - Frame drums

Brazilian Percussion including Surdo, Tamborim, Pandeiro, Reco Reco, Ago Go Bells, Cuica, Atabaque, Repinique, Caixa, Berimbau.

I have been a part time lecturer in percussion at Plymouth University and Dartington College of Arts working with music and theatre P.G.C.E (teacher training) and degree students.
I have taught at Exeter College and at the Academy of Music and Sound in Exeter.
As well as teaching one-to-one lessons, I also do workshops and group drumming. I currently have drum groups at Exeter School, Cathedral School, Steiner School and at The Phoenix Arts Centre (Gandy Street, Exeter) which is mostly for adults.
