Southbook Community Association (SCA) was formed by a group of local residents on the Southbrook Estate in 1971. They raised funds through weekly subscriptions, raffles and social fundraising events, to build a Community Centre for residents of the estate to use as a meeting place for recreational and educational purposes. The building was later extended to accommodate more people due to the demand for a bigger venue. Funds were raised for this extension again by the Committee holding fundraising events and from funds donated from a charitable source.

The Community Association is a registered charity with a constitution which was amended in 2007. SCA are a non-profit making organisation. run by a group of volunteers who are committed to providing a wide range of services for the community as well as managing and maintaining the Southbrook Community Centre.

Southbrook Community Association (SCA) operates under an equal opportunities policy committed to supporting our local community and welcome families from Hill Ward and the surrounding area.

Southbrook Community Association (SCA) have in place a Safeguarding Children policy and Health & Safety Policy.

The Associations Aims & Objectives taken from our constitution are:

a) To promote community activity for the benefit of the inhabitants to Southbrook, Daventry and the surrounding areas by providing facilities to advance education, enhance the social welfare, recreation and leisure time occupation and improve the quality of life of the said inhabitants.

b) To advance education by providing pre-school and out of school activities for the benefit of children and parents living on Southbrook and surrounding areas.

c) To maintain and manage the Community Centre and to co-operate with any local statutory authority in the maintenance and management of the Centre for such activities promoted by the Association in the furtherance of the above objects.

The Centre is a hive of activity with facilities and activities including;-
Daily sessional nursery provision
Out of school care including breakfast club, after school club and holiday care with a range of activities to suit all ages.
A Children's weekly keep fit/dance group which meet every Wednesday 6.30pm - 7.15pm, adults weekly keep fit / dance group which meet every Thursday 6,30pm- 7.30pm..
Bromford Housing drop in every Tuesday and Wednesday 10am to 4pm.
Family Learning delivering workshops such as Healthy Eating, Literacy and Crafts.
Annual community events such as Family Picnics, the Fete On the Field, Christmas Bazaar, Disco’s, weekend craft workshops to name a few.
Production of the SCA Newsletter delivered to all residents of the Southbrook Estate and Borough Hill, promoting community participation, sharing news and achievements and informing residents of forthcoming events etc.
