SNAPS provides leisure support services for children with special needs of all kinds, and their families. Our aim is to support the entire family, by enabling the child, along with siblings, parents and other carers to participate in a shared experience of physical activity, fun and conversation in relaxed surroundings, supported by professional and dedicated staff. Our age range is from 1 to 16, although most of our children are aged between 2 and 10.
We provide Physio led hydrotherapy and rebound sessions, along with swimming, arts and crafts, soft toy play, and a range of other fun activities, such as dance, sign and sing, boccia, storytelling and music therapy. (Please note Hydrotherapy and Swimming are only available at Penny Field.) There are dedicated areas for each activity. We also have a small ‘tuck shop’ and coffee/tea making facilities.
We currently operate out of two sites – Penny Field School and Broomfield School
Penny Field School and Broomfield School which are both Specialist Inclusive Learning Centres.
Penny Field is located on Tongue Lane, Meanwood, Leeds, LS6 4QD, which is close to the Ring Road in North Leeds and 600 metres from the Sainsbury’s / Homebase retail park at Moor Allerton. There is free parking both in the School car park and off road 50 metres further along Tongue Lane.
Broomfield is located on Bloom place, Leeds, LS10 3JP. There is free parking in the school car park.
We are open on Saturdays, thereby supporting families when school and nursery are not open, and giving an additional focus for fun at the weekend. We are open from 09.30 – 13.30, with each child able to have a 20-minute ‘slot’ for hydrotherapy, swimming or rebound therapy. Beyond that, the whole family can participate in activities in the Hall and stay for as long as you like.
We love meeting new families and showing them around SNAPS. It would be great if you could contact Dean or Emma beforehand so they know to expect you and we can make sure that we are open the specific weekend you are planning on coming along. We know that sometimes coming to a new place can be daunting and we want to make that process as easy as possible for you. Dean and Emma will be able to talk you through everything and make it feel at home. We would love to welcome you into the SNAPS family – please get in touch!
