We are based @ Shotton Airfield in Co Durham, regularly operating on weekends throughout the year February through November, and on specified mid week days during British Summer Time. We are prepared to discuss options to open on any day for group bookings.

The cost to participate is £200 for Tandem Skydives booked to take place on scheduled mid week (Mon - Fri) days and Solo Parachute Courses booked to take place on scheduled weekend dates (generally the 1st Sat of the month during British Summer Time). Tandem Skydives can be booked to take place on weekend dates February through November for £250.00. Given 10 days notice is possible to change from the Solo Course to a mid week Tandem free of charge, or to a weekend tandem given the same notice & an upgrade fee of £50.00.

We offer Tandem Skydives from between 8-15,000ft, Solo Training Courses and Solo Progression through Licence standard and beyond.

Our Centre operate an 16 place Cessna Grand Caravan Parachuting Aircraft and a 4 place Cessna 182Q Parachuting aircraft, both with in-flight parachute jump doors. We have indoor training facilities, a canteen, licensed bar, beer garden, bunk rooms, showers, outside spectator area, car parking, and toilets including both disabled and baby change.

Information with regard to Tandem Skydiving, Solo Static Line Parachuting, Progression to Free Fall and Accelerated Free Fall can be found on our web site:

www.skydiveacademy.org.uk

There are both fitness & minimum age requirements. The fitness requirements are detailed on specific BPA Forms 114-A for Solo or Form 115 for Tandem which can be downloaded from our web site. The minimum age to parachute is 16 years old, with 16 and 17 year olds requiring written permission on both BPA Form 106 (which can also be downloaded from our web site) and BPA Form 114-A or BPA Form 115 as appropriate. Those 40 years and older require a Dr's Certificate on BPA Form 114-A or BPA Form 115 as appropriate, and whilst the maximum allowable age to make a 1st Solo Jump is 55 we would tend to recommend to any over 40s that they take a Tandem as their first jump.

Weight is a factor and we also require to discuss with any booker any proposed booking for individuals weighing over 14st (they may require a larger parachute system). Regrettably we can not accept any individuals weighing over 16st 13lbs or 107kg for Solo or Tandem parachute training.

Please bear in mind that weather, temperature, time, light and other factors can impact upon our activities. Whilst for almost all participants Skydiving and Parachuting is an exhilarating experience, plenty of patience can be required (sometimes more for the spectators than for the participants) and should conditions dictate a postponement after training then further visit(s) to the Centre can be required to complete the jump(s).

Once trained we will continue to provide free mandatory training during a rolling 3 month period from the initial course date, or the last date attended, up until 12 months have elapsed since the initial training, but should individuals fail to attend for a period exceeding 3 months we will charge a retrain fee of 50 pounds for Solo SL and Tandem, and 120 pounds for AFF. Should individuals book and then cancel any deposit paid is forfeited. Any requests to reschedule a booking within a period of 10 days prior to any booking will attract a reschedule fee of 35 pounds per participant be that for the first course date or a subsequent jump day. Participants need to attend the Centre for the initial Solo or Tandem training courses regardless of the weather but should adverse conditions prevent jumps from taking place no reschedule fee will be levied to reschedule participants into new dates. A jump queue system is operated with those being at the front of the queue being the first to jump and those at the end the last to jump. Participants will be expected to dedicate the remainder of the day until 8.30pm or dark, whichever the sooner, to jump. Those further down the jump queue being unwilling to await their turn to jump and wanting to reschedule to a new date will be charged a reschedule fee of 35 pounds to reschedule into a new date.
