Shirehampton Infants School and Shirehampton Junior Mixed School was opened in September 1927 and replaced the Victorian segregated school in Station Road which had become too small for the growing number of pupils. Avonmouth Docks had grown in the early part of the twentieth century, attracting many more people to the area, hence the need for a larger school. The school was integrated into what was originally to be called Shirehampton Garden Suburb, a huge estate which still exists more or less exactly as it was built between 1925 and 1934. 24 nursery places, 180 infant places and 340 junior places were provided to include what was then called remedial education. The school was built on land which had at one time been owned by the Miles family, work starting in early 1926. The longest serving member of staff was Dorothy Whitfield who had started with the school in 1927, teaching second year juniors and retiring some forty years later.

The infant and junior schools were amalgamated into a primary school in the year 2000.
