This is the page following the attempt to return to flight an Avro Shackleton, one of the last of a dying breed of Avro aircraft... descendants of the legendary Lancaster.

There were 185 aircraft built, now none of them are airworthy and there are less than 20 left worldwide. WR963 is one of those lucky few.

WR963 served the United Kingdom on the front line during the cold war, starting in 1954, searching for submarines and later in her twilight years as an airborne early warning aircraft.

WR963 was retired from active duty and made her last flight to Coventry Airport during 1991 after being sold at a defence auction. The Shackleton for various reasons never enetered the preservation scene as an airshow performer, with the last flight in teh UK taking place in 1994.

This page includes links to the various fundraising, engineering works, adminstration and other tasks carried out in the pursuit of seeing WR963 fly again.

We are open every other Saturday starting from the first of the month. So please don't hesitate to contact us if you're unsure.
