SGS College - Higher Education 3.1

South Gloucestershire and Stroud College (SGS) formed in 2012 as a result of a merger between Filton College and Stroud College to maintain the breadth of education in the region.

SGS currently has 250 full-time Higher Education learners enrolled and 400 part-time learners on professional higher level qualifications. SGS also offers a wide range of apprenticeships to 1,400 apprentices - including higher apprenticeships. Our apprenticeship provision includes Sport, Business Subjects, Construction, Engineering and Care.

At SGS College, we are committed to ensuring that our students receive the best possible learning experience. The Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) is responsible for assessing the quality and standards of Higher Education nationally and in 2013 they confirmed that academic standards and the quality of student learning opportunities at SGS meets UK expectations.

In 2014, Ofsted judged that the college had 'Outstanding' Leadership and Management, Learner Support Services and Employability Programmes. There were further 'Outstanding' grades in Sport, Business, Performing and Visual Arts. The Ofsted report outlined that a significant and increasing proportion of teaching and learning is 'Outstanding', and learners benefit from the College's culture of high expectations and receive 'Outstanding' support in their studies.

SGS operates from four main locations, Filton, WISE, Queens Road and Stroud.
