Details

Commissioned in November 1966 Ampthill Sea Cadets paraded on Friday Evenings at Redborne Upper School. Originally named Training Ship Russell (after the Lord Ampthill's family name) the unit grew in strength and regularly paraded 60 cadets.

In 1983 new facilities were found and the unit moved to Ampthill Park and had its own building. The addition of a new building on the site in the early 1990's enabled the unit to grow.

In 1995 the unit began fundraising to build a new purpose built unit. In 1997 a large grant from the Leopold Muller foundation was gained. To honour this award the unit changed its name to Training Ship Leopold Muller. With funding available the Flitwick Town Council generously granted planning permission on our current site. The new unit was officially opened on the 6th December 1998 and is our current home.

Since the move into purpose built facilities the unit has grown in strength and has represented the Eastern Area Sea Cadets at National events such as Drill & Piping, Sailing, Canoeing and Boathandling.
