For those of you who are wondering what First Responders are – here is a short explanation. First Responders are volunteers who are trained by the Scottish Ambulance Service to attend medical emergencies within the “footprint” or local area. Most heart attack patients die within 8 minutes of having their heart attack and as we are in an area which is difficult for ambulances to respond to very quickly, the First Responders have been set up. It is therefore hoped that with well trained, well equipped Responders we will be able to reduce potential deaths/complications within our community. The First Responders are not a replacement for the ambulance service – when you dial 999 a First Responder will be despatched (if one is available) and the ambulance is despatched at the same time.
Our “footprint” takes in Saline, Blairhall, Comrie, Oakley, Carnock, Gowkhall, Steelend and outlying farms.
Please email salfru999@gmail.com if you have any questions
We also provide First Aid Cover for events and although described as a business - we are a non-profit business serving our communities.
