The people of Hoylake have provided volunteer crews for over 200 years, a tradition that continues today with generations of local people prepared to risk their lives to save others.
The lifeboat at Hoylake, a 12m Mersey Class 'The Lady of Hilbre', covers the approaches to Liverpool, the Dee Estuary and the Irish Sea and launches at all states of tide in any weather to people in distress.
After a 2-year appeal, a new boathouse was built on Hoylake promenade which opened in November 2008. The next generation of lifeboat, the Shannon Class, arrived on station on 1st December 2014 and is currently in being prepared to replace the station's long-serving boat.
