The Winter Gardens was built in Springburn Park by Glasgow Corporation in 1899-1900, as a condition of accepting a £12,000 donation from local locomotive magnate Sir Hugh Reid, of the Hyde Park Locomotive Works, which had financed the construction of the (now recently demolished) Springburn Public Halls.

The Winter Gardens was much loved by generations of Springburn residents, for its displays of exotic plants and for the concerts and exhibitions held there. Despite being classified as an A-Listed building in 1985, the structure has been vandalised and has lain derelict since the 1980s. Its future is increasingly at risk.

Please join the Springburn Winter Gardens Trust to restore this beautiful building for future generations of Glaswegians!
