Railworld Wildlife Haven is a charity run place looked after by volunteers for all to enjoy in Peterborough. It is located beside the Peterborough Nene Valley railway station, but it is a separate organisation. Railworld has model railways, a nature haven and other exhibits.OverviewFounded in 1985 as Museum of World Railways, it changed its name in 1992. The centre is open only on certain days - Please see volunteers website www.railworld.org.ukExhibitsAll of the exhibits require extensive work. This has to be funded by the charity which is volunteer ran with no core funding. Alco switcherRailworld has an American Alco S1 switcher diesel locomotive number 804. It is one of the five locomotives built by the American Locomotive Company for the Steel Company of Wales works at Margam.Danish PacificThere is also a Danish Pacific Vauclain compound, DSB No. 996 built by Frichs in the 1950s.Railworld has two vehicles that are unique: Tracked Hovercraft's RTV 31. The Birmingham AirRail Link Maglev vehicle (the only one that people can see and enter).
