A warm and friendly welcome awaits you at the Brambles Coffee Shop in Shincliffe, Durham, within Poplar Tree Garden Centre. In our light and spacious Coffee Shop, with beautiful views of Shincliffe & Houghall Woods and the exclusivity of being a stones throw away from the beautiful River Wear, with free car-parking you can enjoy a wide range of fine homemade foods right here at Brambles Durham. Every day our cooks prepare delicious hot & cold dishes to suit all tastes, as well as soups, paninis, Sunday Roasts, All Day Breakfasts, sandwiches and delicious homemade cakes, Quiches & Scones. We have an amazing Gluten Free Menu too. Your Comfort and relaxation are our main aims here at Brambles Durham where we can cater for up to 300 people inside and out. And of course, our ingredients are locally sourced, whenever possible, for that unforgettable taste of County Durham and The North East.

With Brambles Coffee Shop situated within yards of Durham’s River Wear in Shincliffe Village, with a view of the “Durham Grand Canyon” over the river at Houghall Woods, it attracts thousands of walkers & tourists alike.

Brambles Coffee Shop is beautifully decorated with an array of indoor plants, local paintings, local ornaments and historic Photographs of County Durham. Brambles can seat up to 300 people and is the largest independent Coffee Shop in Durham City. When the weather is kind, there is a large Al-Fresco patio area outside the coffee shop where you will find tables and chairs with parasols. Sitting amongst the most fabulous hanging baskets in full bloom and watching people wandering through the garden centre, Brambles has become the perfect Durham Coffee Shop to meet family, friends and work colleagues for a working Lunch.

We are open 7 Days a Week, all year round, from 9.30am to 5pm from Monday to Saturday, and from 10am to 4pm on Sundays. Free Parking at all times.

Both of our large Coffee Shop rooms are also available for room hire for private functions and parties. Brambles Durham has hosted some wonderful parties over the years and is the perfect venue hire for engagement parties, Birthdays, Reunions and much more.
