After successfully completing an intensive 8-week grooming course covering bathing, drying, scissoring and clipping skills, I set up my own grooming business - Pong-go! In order to gain further knowledge and experience, I was lucky enough to be able to assist a groomer local to me on a voluntary basis. I continue to attend demos and seminars to keep learning and I am a member of a grooming forum which allows me to liaise with groomers from all over the country and exchange tips and receive advice.

I work from home out of my converted garage which is homely, clean and quiet. I give you a rough idea when you drop your dog off how long the groom will take but I might need a little longer or be able to work a little quicker depending on how your dog gets on on the day. If they indicate to me that they need a break, I either pop them on the floor for a bit or they have a toddle in the garden, weather permitting.

Arriving as close to your allotted drop-off and pick-up time is always appreciated because I work alone and need time between customers to get my room tidied and set up for my next furry visitor. If you are running a little late, a quick text to let me know would be very helpful so that I can maybe advise my next customer that I could be running slightly behind.

The bath I use is a hydrobath which cleanses the coat, massages the skin and speeds up the bathing process. If your dog has been prescribed a special shampoo by your vet, just bring this along for me to use. It is important that I know of any health, joint, behavioural problems, etc your dog may have so that I can adapt the groom accordingly. Nails are checked during every groom and trimmed if needed. I do not express a dog's anal glands because this is a veterinary procedure and I am not covered to do this under the terms of my insurance.

I always like to let you know how your dog got on, what they enjoyed, didn't like so much, etc.

I do not de-matt dogs. If a dog is matted, I ask your permission to shave the coat off because this is the best thing for the dog. There will still be a covering of fur but it will be very short because only blades that take the coat tight can get through what is effectively a fleece. When brushing, it's always best to go over your dog with a comb afterwards to find any knots the brush missed.

You can pull up and park directly outside my home in a cul-de-sac. Please keep all dogs on leads to avoid them running onto any neighbouring gardens and maybe doing a whoopsie!

If you bring more than one dog to me, the one not being groomed will be placed in a cage with me in my room whilst the other dog is having their pamper. This is for their own safety and it also gives them a chance to relax.

Inspection of my salon is welcomed. Any questions, just message me on here, text or ring me. Or you can ask to pop by. Thank you for reading. :) x
