Welcome to Oswell’s...

We are Lisa and Julie, two sisters on a mission to bring the feel good factor and top-notch customer service experienced in a lovely, independent high street shop to the internet.

With 25 years of retail and marketing experience between us, we have a passion for scouring the globe to seek out that something extra-special; always well made and useful, sometimes curious or quirky, generally beautiful, and often all of the above. Whether you're looking for something a bit different for the home, a gift for a loved one, or just feel like treating yourself, we believe you will find what you are looking for in our eclectic range of products.

Nature is very much at the heart of our buying inspiration. Whether it be in terms of design, such as leaf-shaped tableware and porcelain bowls with elephant trunks for feet, or materials, such as pure linen, horn, alpaca wool and vegetable wax candles, there is a definite natural theme running throughout our collection. Plastics are avoided where possible, as are chemicals and synthetic fibres. Lots of our suppliers use recycled packaging and print with soy ink, and wherever possible we try to ensure that our natural materials come from renewable resourses.

Although we're justly proud of our gorgeous website, we're not just an internet presence. First and foremost we're shop-keepers, and so we also have a lovely little shop located in a lovely 18th century listed former antique shop in historic Barnard Castle in the heart of beautiful Teesdale. With stunning views across the Tees Valley, it's the ideal place to peruse our range of curious and beautifully designed products. It is also the only place to see our gorgeous selection of hand-made LLoyd Loom furniture, along with weave and colour samples to make ordering easy.

In-store, all purchases over £50 will procure one of our famous Oswell's bags!

We look forward to seeing you at Oswell's very soon!
