WHAT WE DO:

We invite all music enthusiasts, aspiring and established DJs to share their passion for music to an appreciative crowd in an award winning venue. The Common Room recently won the "Best Bar in Bath" award from Bath Life Magazine.

HOW WE DO IT

The Common Rooms is a small, funky, late night bar with a friendly crowd. For the exception of EDM and Hard House, most musical styles are welcome. Each DJ is given a 45 min slot. All that we ask is that you 'Like' our page, bring your friends and spread the word to like minded people.

We don't use the in house equipment. Instead we bring our own professional equipment. We have recently upgraded to the industry standard CDJ 2000 Nexus and an Allen & Heath Xone DB2 DJ mixer. In order to make this cost effective, each of our DJs has agreed to contribute £5 to help cover the cost of insurance and servicing . We look after our DJs and every participant is offered a complimentary drink of their choice during the course of the evening.

WHY WE DO IT

We want to give aspiring and experienced DJs an opportunity to share some of their favourite tracks without the pressures of catering to a demanding dance floor. It's also a great way of meeting new industry people and making new friends. It's all about good music and having a good time.

The most rewarding aspect of Open Decks is seeing our DJs progress in their careers. Some of our participants have subsequently landed DJ slots in places like Lakota, Motion, Pryzm, UWE Students Union, The Earl, The Tub, The Second Bridge, Igloo Bar and Ski Bar.

★ Do I need to make a booking ?
NO - You can always come along and see if a slot is available for you to play on the night. However we recommend you reserve your DJ slot prior to the night to guarantee a spot. DJ Rota is published 24 hours before the event.

★ Can I bring a controller ?
Unfortunately due to the lack of space it is not feasible to set up a controller. However we are more than happy to assist you using our industry standard equipment.

★ What music can I play ?
The Common Rooms is a small and intimate late night bar with a great crowd. Residents find that small room sounds work better. Below is only an idea of what genres of music will suit the place:
