Northgate Church, Chester, is located in Upper Northgate Street, Chester, Cheshire, England.HistoryIt was originally built in 1874 as a Congregational church, and was designed by the local architect T. M. Lockwood.ArchitectureThe church is constructed with a front in yellow sandstone, and the sides and rear in brick. The roof is slated. It is described by the authors of the Buildings of England series as "quite a landmark". The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.Present dayNorthgate Church is a lively charismatic community church for all ages. An envisioned church incorporating dynamic youth and children’s ministry, active work with students and a comprehensive community programme. Northgate relates closely with many different churches in and around Chester, known collectively as ‘Link-Up’. The vision of Northgate Church is to 'Play Our Part in the Transformation of Chester.' The main Sunday service takes place each week at 10.30am. Its theology is amorphous containing teachings from the seeker sensitive and power positive thinking movement.
